| Greed and fear bring out the best and worst in our behavior. We can't eliminate emotions from our trading but we can control their impact. Rules and self-discipline define the successful trader. Those rules must apply when it feels good, and when you're jumping at the chance to break them. But few can do this perfectly. You will repeatedly find yourself in situations that you could have avoided if you just followed your rules. At those times, you need to decide quickly whether Mother or Charlie will show up to steer your boat back into the harbor.
